Dog Show

The right-behind-me dog tries to compete in a major national dog show.

Dog Show
Various classes, obedience working dogs etc.

‘I thought I might enter this year and try to win one of the cups,’ said the right-behind-me dog,

‘I do not think you are eligible,’ said the under-my-feet cat patiently (she was used to his ambitions and flights of fancy). ‘You have to be a pedigree dog to  qualify as a competitor  and as for ‘working dogs’ you have never done a days work in your life and the one time you saw a flock of sheep you ran away!!’
‘What about the obedience class?’    Said the dog.
‘Don’t be ridiculous,’ said the cat, ‘since when have you obeyed anyone?’

‘Anyway,’ said the dog,  ‘there is nothing wrong with my pedigree,  it is just that instead of going backwards, it goes sideways.’
‘Well give it a try, they can only say no.’ she said.
Which is exactly what they did say the next morning, when the right-behind-me dog presented himself at the competitors’ entrance.
